- Same problems here: Tried --for several programs-- to freeze, after I
- discovered that in NB4 there is more movement (especially between
- screens) than in NB3, and put programs full of DX's (before each
- command that moves the cursor/display, etc.), and that helped a
- bit. I also tried the DO vo/vx, but did not notice any difference
- in my programs. Pity Total Freeze is impossible as I see it:
- especially when data are searched in other files (as in my
- programs that search names, and bibliographical references,
- in other files if I put the cursor on a namein the text), I get
- the annoying swapping to other screens. Same with the SAVE command,
- which now goes through an overlay (probably to be able to generate
- the message that the file already had been saved --a VERY useful
- improvement on NB3--), but this means that the screen temporarily
- goes to the beginning of the file. In NB3 we could take care of
- that by DX/DO's, but that is not an option when one uses the
- overlay-save function (F5) (One can switch that off, of course,
- and simply redefine F5 as direct save, with DX/DO before and
- after, but then one loses the useful "File already saved" messages.).
- (Incidentally, I have included in F5 a reference to a function in
- the big help file NB.HLP which tells me that a file I am saving
- is now being saved/has been saved. So that when I am briefly
- attending to other things and get back I see the message:
- "This file has been saved" (or "This file has NOT been saved"
- when there was an error, e.g. a full disk), instead of simply "Done".)
