- I find some differences in how DX and DO (Display Off, On) work in NB4,
- compared with 3.x. DX/DO work most of the time but not always
- as expected. If DX does not work, you might try the pair
- NB vx (display off) NB vo (on) where NB is a command code entered
- just like DO and vx/vo are reguralr characters. I don't
- guarantee this solves your problem (I couldn't turn off all
- display that I wanted even with NB vx).
-
- This code isn't explained in any of the NB manuals I've got
- (since 3.0). I found an explanation in one (actually several)
- of the sample xpl programs included in one of the
- SIMTEL/TAUNIVM Nota Bene archives. The file I first found an
- explanation was COMPARE.XPL. I cannot check it now, but I think
- it was in NB-XPL01.ZIP, and written by Tony Woozley, but may have been by
- another.
-
- This piece of code is included also in PGM.SPL, "suggested by
- Herbert Tyson", in the same (?) archive. Trying out this
- PGM.SPL, I found that the auto replacement function freezes not
- only when the string is long (>39 or >42 chars) or contains a
- CR--problems that have been established--but also when there
- are some other program codes in the string.
