- RXSOCKET works with only TCP/IP 2.1 and later. RXTCPIP, an earlier
- package, works with some releases of TCP/IP V1 and I think V2 as well.
- I think RXSOCKET is considered more robust or flexible or something;
- it's being used by many new CMS TCP/IP clients written in REXX,
- including TNVT100, the Rice GOPHER client, and my PH client.
-
- You may already have RXSOCKET, especially if you're running Rice's
- GOPHER. Or, if you still are on TCP/IP V1, you might have RXTCPIP.
- Basically, if you have one or the other retrieve the appropriate NNR
- without the RX* code. If you have neither, I suggest you take the
- package with RXSOCKET if you run TCP/IP V2. If you have neither and
- still run V1, take the package with RXTCPIP in it.
-
- These are mildly ignorant opinions. :-) Someone might argue more about
- the merits of RXTCPIP vs. RXSOCKET. I can only report what works for
- me. :-)
