  23. Oh, but I see rose colored glasses here.  What if the mean failure rate
  24. is 6.1 years.  I said 5 years, plus, because the carbon dating data is
  25. not back from the lab.  I don't know the age, I would like to determine
  26. that if possible.

  28. It is possible your boxes are of the same vintage as ours and you will loose
  29. three, tomorrow.  What would you do?   The repair turn around rate on the
  30. power supply is 6 weeks.  Is that an acceptable down time for three of your
  31. boxes?  Do you need to have eight backup units, or is one enough?  I needed
  32. three.  I might need more, and that's what I'm trying to get a handle
  33. on.

  35. So, my point is, in this community, is there a feel for the right backup
  36. level and can we determine the mean time to failure?
