- In reply to Mark Fetler's post concerning the possibility of breaking up the
- L.A.U.S.D., not the least in this murky forumla is the political ambition of
- one David Roberti. The so-called "70 million short fall that the district
- cannot account for" looks suspiciously like a drum up charge to further
- support Roberti's own quest to break up the district. To what political
- ends? one can only guess. He will certainly score points with the mostly
- White, much wealthier San Fernando Valley voters who are now part of the
- L.A. district. These voters have consistently showed distain with the
- mostly Black and Hispanic City of L.A. part of the district. Do large
- districts indeed have proportionally more problems than smaller districts?
- I am not sure if anyone has really looked into the problem of the size of a
- district and governance. Seems like a good doctoral thesis to me.
