  13. I agree with the response saying that your father should find an
  14. honest way of dealing with his feelings regarding the treatment of
  15. lesbigays.  If he "becomes" gay, it would seem to me a statement
  16. saying you can only accept lesbigay-ism if you are a lesbian or gay
  17. person.  On the other hand, to join some functioning group and stand
  18. his ground as a "straight" person is a strong statement to EVERYONE
  19. that he "ain't gonna take it anymore", and that, as a straight person,
  20. he accepts the lifestyles and honors and respects the feelings of
  21. lesbigays.

  23. What he proposes is a strong statement, indeed, but not nearly so
  24. strong as looking at the person next to you and approving of them
  25. regardless of how different they are from yourself.
