- <Hi,
- <
- <I have a problem to use a postscript printer as a postscript printer under VMS.
- <The printer is a Brother HL-10PS, it is connected serial with the DECserver200
- <and everything is working fine as long as I use it as a text printer, but as
- <soon as I send a postscript file or I connect it to a queue created with DEC's
- <CPS-software, it doesn't print anything. If it is connected to a text queue,
- <the printer tells me IGNORE DATA. If it is connected to a CPS queue, it takes
- <sometime and then the queue is stalled.
- <
- <
- <Any help or idea, how to solve this problem is appreciated.
- <
- <Happy New Year

- It's my understanding that you have to create a generic queue to use with
- non-DEC (or unsupported) printers and not use the CPS software. This is due to
- all the "communication" that DEC printers have with VMS. The CPS software will
- only work with DEC, HP, Apple, etc. printers (I can't remember the whole
- supported list off the top of my head).
-
- We are using postscript IBM 4019s and 4029s on generic queues and sending the
- appropiate control codes in FORMS to change the printer's data stream between
- the PPDS, plotter, PCL and Postscript modes.
-
- E-mail me if you need more information on what we are doing.
