  23. devices.  Look in your Pathworks for VMS (Macintosh) "Server
  24. Administrator's Guide" Chapter 8.  Page 8.20 details how to
  25. connect to a Terminal Server based LaserWriter.

  32. No, you can use the one symbiont, MSAP$SYMBIONT, to run the
  33. queue.  You only need 1 queue and you can print to it from all 3
  34. platforms.  Digital Support, as usual, are spinning you a tale.

  36. The steps to define the service are basically simple;
  37.  
  38. 1) Define the LAT LTAnnnn device.
  39. 2) Define the Pathworks for VMS (Macintosh) print service. 
  40.      Specify the printer as a LaserWriter.  PfVMS will create the
  41.      queue for you.
  42. 3) Define the Pathworks for VMS (DOS) print service. When it asks
  43.    you for a form name put PS_PLAIN.  This is IMPORTANT!

  45. What you will end up with is

  47. PC -------> Pathworks  ---

  49.                             - VMS queue -> MSAP$SYMBIONT ->LTAnnn

  51. Mac ------> Pathworks  ---

  53. Your Macs will see an AppleTalk Laserwriter and your PC's will
  54. see a network LPT connection.  We tell our PC's they are talking
  55. to an Apple LaserWriter.

  57. I have had real problems with MSAP$SYMBIONT and spooled LTA
  58. devices.  If MSAP$SYMBIONT fails to recognise your LTAnnn device
  59. then make sure you
  60. SET DEVICE LTAnnn /NOSPOOLED
