- Abortion is not perfectly fine, it is NOT something great or glorious.
- It is, rather, a very personal decision. Intellectually the issue
- involves a myriad of values and rights, biological, societal and
- intellectual. It is one of the most "grey" issues humans have ever
- faced.
-
- I know lots of people who have had abortions--I have paid for one, and
- my brother has paid for one. It is not something we go around jumping
- for joy over. It was a tough decision. When my girlfriend from about
- seven years ago had the abortion, I couldn't be present--we were 200
- miles apart. She called me afterwards. Neither of us was "happy." We
- felt a kind of loss, but knew it was the best thing in the long run.
-

-
- When dealing with the consequences means "dealing with the abortion,"
- it's not reason to throw a party either. "Dealing with the abortion"
- means dealing with an intellectual decision to terminate a pregnancy, and
- therefore, a probable life that was well underway. I know of no one who
- felt "perfectly fine" about it. I may be quibbling, but abortion is not
- "perfection." Nor do I believe that you think it is.
