- Sayan Bhattacharyya <bhattach@quip.eecs.umich.edu>, in article
- <1992Dec23.234549.6952@zip.eecs.umich.edu>, was looking for antho-
- logies of Bengali literature, preferably poetry, translated into
- English.
-
- I have not been overly successful in similar searches; but, I
- would, albeit with some reservations, suggest _Poetry_from_Bengal_
- (translated by Ron D. K. Banerjee, ISBN 0-948259-79-5).
-
- The translations are satisfactory although, personally, I would
- like to see Naomi Lazard make an attempt on Bengali poems. A fairly
- large number of poets (e.g. Shamsher Anwar, Buddhadev Bose, Dinesh das,
- Jibananda Das, Sunil Gangopadhyay, Samsul Haque, and Premendra Mitra)
- are represented; unfortunately, this representation appears to consist
- almost entirely of artists from West Bengal.
-
- Regards.
