- Note that the technique used for chopping mortises with Japanese chisels
- is significantly different than that used with Western chisels. In
- particular, the Japanese chisels are harder and therefore more brittle,
- so that you shouldn't use them to pry chips off the bottom. I believe
- that there's a secondary tool used to pry and clean up the bottom of
- mortises when using Japanese chisels.
