- I've been listening to two audio subcarriers on F4R, channel 14, that
- Robert Smathers first heard and included in the newest South Canner
- Chart, but was unable to ID.
-
- 7.60 This seems to be full-time in Haitian Creole. The
- frequently-given ID is "Radio Tropicale". Much political talk, some
- good Haitian music. I get the feeling this originates in Florida and is
- not an over-the-air station. This needs more investigating.
-
- 8.23 Got an ID last night at 2000 in English. It's "WNWK-FM, 105.9,
- Newark, New Jersey". Multicultural Broadcasting (that's their slogan).
- They gave the weather, then went into a reggae show hosted by DJ Rude
- Boy. Lots and lots of ads for concerts and nightclub parties in the NYC
- area. I taped 90 minutes of this and brought it in to listen to so
- maybe I'll have more light to shed on this later today. At other times,
- this station has been heard in Spanish and in Creole.
-
- There you go... satellite just keeps getting more and more "niched". If
- you haven't listened to Haitian music, give it a try. Fans of Reggae,
- Soca, Zouk, and African music will especially enjoy it...a very joyous
- sound coming from such a God-forsaken disaster area.
