  16. Yesterday and today (29/12) Lufthansa (German Airlines) placed a full-page
  17. ad in Holland's largest newspaper advertising a special deal on airfares.
  18. It seems that as of January 1st price restrictions on airfares in the EEC
  19. shall be released and to "celebrate" this, Lufthansa offers Economy class
  20. return airfares for 299 NLG (approx $165) from Amsterdam to anywhere in 
  21. the EEC. For destinations in Germany the price is 199 NLG ($110). Let me
  22. assure you that these are CHEAP! KLM immediately announced it would respond
  23. somehow, probably by beefing up its very slack frequent flyer program.

  25. The conditions: Tickets must be for travel from January 1st to March 31st
  26. 1993, and tickets must be reserved and paid for before January 15th. I
  27. would assume that Lufthansa is offering the same sort of deal to the other
  28. EEC members, and assuming they'll be looking for an attention-grabbing 
  29. price it may be significantly cheaper elsewhere. How about some feedback?
  30. Further conditions (not listed in the ad): trip must include a Saturday
  31. night (standard condition to weed out the business travellers), ticket
  32. has to be paid within 24 hrs of reservation and no changing of dates 
  33. allowed.
