- While this isn't exactly what you're after, I have a copy of a
- handbook issued to firemen studying for promotion to engineer. I
- don't remember the specifics, but I believe it is a 1930's era book
- issued by the PRR. It is full of detailed technical questions (and
- answers) about how to test and adjust all of the equipment in both the
- engine and freight cars. I suffered MEGO(*) after a few pages, but I
- think it indicates that there at least _used_ to be books of the sort
- requested by the original poster. I'll try to dig the book up this
- evening.
