  12.  The Lowe 150 is the only receiver with three sync modes built-in and
  13.   comes standard.  When possible, I use the double sideband sync 
  14.   detection as this offers audibly less distortion and increases the
  15.   frequency response over envelope detection.

  17.   When interference occurs on one sideband, sync detection on the optimum
  18.   sideband often clears the noise and provides a noise-free signal.  One
  19.   problem with sync detection is the "howling" which occurs when the 
  20.   tuning is slowly rocked from one side of the carrier.  The Lowe offers
  21.   a switch to envelope detection (no howling) when rapidly tuning.

  23.   By the way, the Lowe 150 uses a single chip FM detector as the sync
  24.   detector (unlike the stereo AM chip Sony uses).
