  15. A very nice review of PR-100 appeared in this group a couple of weeks
  16. ago. Based on that I bought the radio ($39.95 + $4.95 shipping) from J&R
  17. 1-800-221-8180.

  19. It seems to pull powerful stations (BBC, radio Australia, Netherlands,
  20. NZ, Canada etc) quite easily. I live in Los Angeles (Western US) which
  21. is quite bad for SW listening so I expect in other areas, it does even
  22. better than here. I also had bought DAK's $69.95 radio which has more
  23. bells and whistles but PR-100 beats it hands down in performance.

  25. To add to the very thourough previous review, I will add the following:
  26. -- digital screen has no lights ..tough to operate in dark.
  27. -- Channel selector is mechanical, very hard to change ..I have a
  28.    feeling that it would be the first one to break.
  29. -- It will help a lot to get a spool wire antenna. 
  30. -- 5 memory presets for each channel (am,fm,sw1,sw2) is not enough,
  31.    atleast for SW frequencies.

  33. Still, a great value and reasonable performance. If you, like me, are
  34. interested in only the major broadcasters then you can not go wrong with
  35. this radio.
