  21. The one time I traveled to Seattle, I stayed at a hotel in Renton.  I
  22. heard KING being being beaten about the head and shoulders by XPRS-1090,
  23. from south of the border.

  25. A couple of years later, I ran into someone at an NAB convention who was
  26. formerly in management at KING.  He knew of the interference and said that
  27. KING ownership once tried to locate the owners of XPRS in order to negotiate
  28. a deal, which they believed would be great for both parties, to modify XPRS
  29. to better cover southern cal and reduce interference toward KING.  In spite
  30. of rather diligent efforts, they were evidently never able to locate anyone
  31. in ownership of XPRS and so never made the offer.

  33. What surprised me about the interference was how strong it was.  The hotel
  34. radio was not very good and only a few stations came in.  KING was one of
  35. the stronger signals but was the only one with audible background
  36. interference.

  38. My W.A.G. is that the ratio of the two was 10dB - more than enough for XPRS
  39. to be clearly heard under KING.
