  14. I recently noticed similar behaviour on my EOS 630, though not as
  15. severe (bouncing between 2 and 3 bars on the battery check).  At first
  16. I thought it was temperature (it can be quite cold in Toronto these
  17. days).  However, I suggest trying a different brand of battery.

  19. I've been told that "Not all lithium batteries are created equal.".  My
  20. previous batteries were Sanyo (makers of *real* 2CR5 batteries) and
  21. Everready.  Both of these seemed to discharge in a more-or-less linear
  22. fashion.  Interestingly, they were also housed in plastic casings
  23. similar to each other, but dissimilar to my current (Varta) and spare
  24. (Maxell-Hitachi) battery.

  26. The Sanyo and Everready casings looked completely sealed.  The Varta
  27. and Maxell batteries have a horizontal split on the ends of the casing
  28. which look like they can be pried at.

  30. Interestingly, the Varta and Maxell batteries sell for about 2/3rds the
  31. cost of the Everready.  (Now I pause to scratch my head and go, "Hmmmm.".)

  33. So, find a store that carries a different brand and try it out.
  34. Again Sanyo, and I think Panasonic are the "official" 2CR5 battery
  35. makers.  Canon markets a 2CR5 under their own label, but I've never
  36. tried it.

  38. It is interesting to see that Canon can adjust the sensitivity to
  39. voltage.  Are you going to go for the modification?  Did the Canon
  40. rep. say anything about what you'd be risking?
