- Valery,
-
- Your posting on ProfiSECRETs was very interesting! In addition to
- thanking you for sharing your experience, I also have a few
- questions...
-
- I've seen your postings before; I remember the one you requested
- leased photo processing equipment. Here you mentioned "putting an end
- to social photography..." What did your business do before you
- converted to studio modeling work? It sounds like you have a large
- collection of photos of life in Soviet-ruled Ukraine.
-
- >Quite often I take several photographic cameras - among them one uncharget -
- >and begin to click and "bring in" a model:
-
- I don't completely understand the above. Do you mean you
- shoot without film in the camera until the model feels comfortable? I
- often expect not to get good shots for at least the first 5 or 10
- rolls of film, but since film is relativly inexpensive I warm up while
- shooting film.
-
- > It is from U-Shu that I took the idea of vital centre. All time I talk to
- >girls that their smile , arm movement and everything else begins with abdomen.
-
- I have never hear of this before, but it sounds interesting. Should the
- models think about their movements as all coming from the abdomen for a
- more commanding posture?
-
- Also, I find it very difficult to both make the model feel at ease and
- concentrate on composition at the same time. I often bring an
- assistant who stands behind me and can bring out a natural smile in
- the model. (Now you know why I'm not a fashion photographer!!)
-
- > Three parts the creative work consist of are as follows: intellect, sense
- >and sex. All other is nonsense.(The formulation of English artists Gilbert and
- >George is used. See exhibition catalogue of 1990.)
-
- Again, I'd like to learn more. Which exhibition catalogue shall I
- consult?
-
- Thanks for the information! (And by the way, there's a pretty large
- Ukrainian community here in Los Angeles....)
