  11. The circle is complete.

  13. On October 21, 1981 I returned home to find Laughter whelping on my bed.
  14. Four pups had already been born and six more would follow before the night
  15. was through.  One of the first four, I knew immediately, was going to be
  16. staying with me, and I knew his name had to be Lightfoot.  He was part
  17. collie, part Belgian Shepard, part Alaskan timber wolf.
  18.  
  19. 22 months later Laughter was gone and I had to nurse Lightfoot through his
  20. mourning her loss.  Three months after that, Feets and I moved from
  21. Spartanburg, South Carolina to Amsterdam, New York.  From Amsterdam to
  22. Philadelphia to Newark, Delaware, Feets was there.  He never played with a
  23. ball or played tug of war.  He did nothing but spend his time being a
  24. friend, companion and, to some, he was my four legged son.

  26. Shortly before 8pm on Wednesday, December 30, 1992 I signed the papers
  27. authorizing the euthanasia.  His kidneys had failed and there was nothing
  28. that could be done.  He went out with his head in my lap.

  30. From the moment of his birth to the moment of his death, my scent was with
  31. him.  Lightfoot is gone.  The circle is complete.
