  20. One reason dogs do this is when their anal glands are stopped up.  If
  21. this is the case, the glands need to be cleaned out.  Your vet can
  22. easily do this for you or you may learn to do it yourself.  Personally,
  23. I've never done it myself.  I've always let the vet handle it.

  25. BTW.  If the glands are stoopped up and you do nothing about it, it
  26. could lead to health problems for your dog.
