- I've used a nail grinder for years, and LOVE it. In contrast to nail
- clippers, you don't have any roughness remaining on the end of the nail. In
- addition, if you make the mistake of taking too much off, you don't have to
- be as concerned with bleeding because the grinder cauterizes (if that's the
- right word) the nail.
- Also, some dogs prefer it to nail clippers. For example, I started my
- Norfolk terrier puppy out with nail clippers, and did she fight! No biting or
- growling of course, but I could barely hold onto her because she was struggling
- so much (and she probably weighed about 7-8 lbs. at that stage). Norfolks are
- notoriously bad about having their nails trimmed. So I started using the nail
- grinder and found that she accepted it much, much better. Because she does
- little struggling with the nail grinder, I can now do her nails in a matter of
- a couple minutes (if that). With the nail clippers, it was more like 10-15
- minutes (which starts to add up because I do the dogs' nails every week). The
- additional advantage is that she's happier about the whole process.
- Let us know how you like your grinder after you try it. I bet you'll
- really like it!
