  14. All this talk about the best food for dogs reminded me of a problem that has recently surfaced
  15. with my 2yr old Golden. She was on Science Diet maintenance but was gaining too much weight
  16. even though she was getting regular exercise and less than the prescribed amount of food.
  17. I then changed her food to Science diet light and she did lose a couple of pounds! BUT, after 
  18. feeding her this for about 2 months I now find she has big (and I mean big!) flakes of skin
  19. coming off her coat.(our house looks like we had a snow storm inside!!)

  21. It seems to be some kind of a dry skin problem even though I have been
  22. giving her an extra strength Dermcaps (for dry skin) AND putting some vegetable oil in her food
  23. everyday.
  24. Has anyone seen this problem before and knows any solutions to this?
  25. I talked to her vet and he seemed to be of the opinion that dry skin was a common ailment of
  26. the breed. He suggested going back to more fatty food which I am not sure I want to do.
