  22. Well, look at it from this point of view: someone posts about a
  23. problem X.  Twenty people respond, possibly more by email.  Of those
  24. responses, 19 say Y, and 1 says "kill it."  What do you think the
  25. original someone is going to think?  "Oh, a nut case, I'll ignore that
  26. one."  Meanwhile the group is spared of a "What do you *mean*, 'kill
  27. it'??!!" thread.

  29. I don't have too many people in my kill file, but there are some who I
  30. have had no compunction about dropping into it.  Subsequent spillage
  31. from flamewars only convince me that I was right in the first place to
  32. ignore that person.

  34. If certain individuals, who promote extremist solutions, are ignored,
  35. while good advice is given directly to the person asking, I think that
  36. does more good than lengthy threads debating those certain
  37. individuals' characters.
