- In regards to your question on bluring out genital areas and female breasts
- on USA television.
-
- >Is this a requirment of US television? Do they do this for National
- Geographix stuff too? Is the state really that repressive or is
- this self-censorship on part of the station/network/studio to avoid
- litigation?<
-
- I think it was done more in the way of self-censorship. The show was on
- during the mid-day and is "housewife" orientated (no flames on being a
- sexist please, couldn't come up with a better term) but that is not
- necessarily why they censor. I have seem segments on breast cancer and self
- exam broadcast that made no attempt to blur out breasts. I have also seen
- female nudity on some evening shows, male nudity is rare and all I I have
- ever seen is rear views. Cable stations such as HBO have shown frontal male
- nudity.
