- I thought their first two albums (10 years ago) were brilliant
- and that they went slowly downhill afterwards. The second, PRESENT ARMS,
- was especially strong, all 8 songs big winners. It was a fresh sound,
- combination dub & soul. The first (yellow UB40 form) was also consistently
- good.
-
- Then they drifted into a pattern, so I stopped caring too much. The 3rd
- (with the hologram) was quite boring, and the 4th (LABOUR OF LOVE), an
- homage to old reggae hits like Many Rivers To Cross etc., was again more
- of the same. Gotta admit I haven't listened to them after that.
-
- But again, PRESENT ARMS is a masterpiece.
