- "I've been there a bit already - got some LKJ, Agustus Pablo,
- Lee Perry, Upsetters, but I have yet to find the really mind
- searing spaced out heavy dub that I hear hints of once in awhile.
- I want loads of echo, pans and sounds like the universe is
- being ripped apart at the seams in front of me. Skip the drum
- machines unless they're very tastefully done, lay on the heavy
- bass and crank up the volume, kick back and close your eyes..."
-
- african head charge 'songs of praise' - yeah, steeply priced i guess, but
- this is the shit you're looking for. it's not really dub anymore,
- african head charge truly defies description. how about 'very heavy
- downbeat riddim that nods toward dub but with incredible vocal samples
- over the top.'
-
- dub syndicate 'stoned immaculate' - i know, i'm an on-u junky, but this
- is another great dub piece (and listening to the song 'stoned immaculate'
- while stoned on a bumping system is a good thing).
-
- mad professor 'psychedelic dub' - not the same ultra production as the
- adrian sherwood material, but more 'authentic' sounding and, as the name
- suggests, the album is very...uh...'trippy'.
-
- prince far i 'cry tuff dub encounter' - recently released onto cd by
- danceteria/roir, prince far i's music ranges from heavy dub poetry to
- funny tales about nothing in particular. his dub music is really good,
- never too much of anything, just quality, you know?
-
- can anybody recommend anything from niney the observer? king tubby?
- twinkle brothers? creation rebel? the scientist? other wicked dub shit
- (releases i might have missed from lee perry or others)?
-
- on a tangent, you might want to try and find a collections entitled
- "ambient dub vol. 1 - the big chill". now i haven't actually heard it
- but what i've heard about it makes my mouth water (i'm currently trying
- very hard to locate this cd - does anybody have any suggestions?).
