  10. Some random thoughts on returning from Oakland.  What a wonderful run.
  11. Thanks Grateful Dead!  Here's my six bits:

  13. 1.  The worlds biggest family reunion brought an overwhelming feeling of
  14.     gratitude that we have each other: Bob and Jerry exchanging smiles,
  15.     Jerry openly admiring Vince's *incredible* jams, some little hops
  16.     and skips from Jerry (as close as he ever gets to dancin'), Phil
  17.     eternally amused, those crazy grinning drum wizards.
  18.  
  19. 2.  On Saturday night, with an old friend's funeral the next afternoon, when
  20.     Jerry went into the final "Standing On The Moon" jam, I swear I
  21.     felt those "hands on my shoulders".  Sunday, the words of Kesey's
  22.     Halloween eulogy for Bill resounded in my head, like the Buddhist
  23.     funeral chimes at Steve's service.  Kesey was right: "It's as big a
  24.     time as it gets!"

  26. 3.  Waiting in line in the rain, shivering, the words to "Rain" running
  27.     through my head.  "I can shooow you .. that when it starts to rain
  28.     .. everything's the same .. I can shooow you."
  29.  
  30. 4.  BGP is still the *best*!  Love to Peter and Marty and Henry and Ray
  31.     and Melvin and all of 'em whose names I don't know, but whose work is
  32.     an act of love.  And we *miss* you, Willy.  Come on back!

  34. 5.  Synchronicity:  Stepping onto the rental car shuttle at SFO right
  35.     behind me was the friend from Italy who'd sold me my Sunday Paris
  36.     ticket 2 years ago.  Know what he said?  "So what brings you to
  37.     town, Gail?"  Ha!
  38.  
  39. 6.  Il n'y est rien en monde comme concert de Grateful Dead.  N'est pas,
  40.     mon ami?
