- In article <1992Dec21.032703.19160@qualcomm.com> oestline@maui.qualcomm.com (Ofer Estline) writes:
- >Everyone who has known me on the net (thru trades, conversation, etc.)
- >will not hestitate to call me fair or credible [...]
-
- >Steve deliberately distorted the facts. Here they are. And Steve, if you
- >have any problems with what I write, I encourage you to allow me to post
- >every bit of email exchanged between us (with no comments, just the mail)
- >and let others decide. AND PLEASE DON'T IGNORE THIS ENCOURAGEMENT, unless you
- >don't want everyone to see what a big jerk is hiding under the "I provide the
- >seed, so you matter not!" attitude you showed me.
-
- Nice rhetoric. Translation: If Steve doesn't want to send Ofer tapes to
- run the net trees when Ofer isn't prepared to include a sizable portion
- of the people (i.e. DAT owners) to whom Steve wants - via the trees - to
- make these recordings available, then Steve's an elitist jerk. And if
- Steve doesn't want kilobytes or megabytes of private correspondence
- between himself and Ofer posted to the net, it proves that he's trying
- to hide "what a big jerk" he is.
-
- >I feel this was unprovoked and unfair. I had that holidays spirit running
- >through my veins drive me to try and resolve this with Steve
-
- (Not to mention those first analog gen from DAT tapes...)
-
- >with personal email, so I reponded with a semi-friendly response giving
- >him a chance to cool off (again, I'd be more than glad to post this with
- >Steve's permission), but he continued to assault me verbally. I sent him
- >email, telling him not to repond to me unless he had something
- >friendly or constructive to say. But HE wrote me back, threatening ME that
- >if I write him again, I'll be sorry. What maturity.
-
- Had Steve asked Ofer not to write him anymore? If so, isn't Steve within
- his rights to make such a request?
-
- >Then I found his blasphemous post on r.m.gdead, along with responses
- >patting Steve on the back.
-
- >My main point here is not only to defend my honor. It is to inform all of you
- >who think Steve an "Untouchable" because of his seed offers that
- >he is a mere mortal, and he makes mistakes. Sometimes ugly mistakes.
- >So please - before any of Steve's devoted desciples back up Steve's unkind
- >posts - be sure to demand both sides of the story !!!
-
- I'm not Steve's "devoted disciple", just a friend. Ofer doesn't do much
- to establish the credibility he'd claim for himself with rhetoric such
- as this - not to mention "blasphemous post" (one wonders if he's looked
- up "blasphemous" in a dictionary recently. Does he really consider
- himself a deity, or otherwise sacred?) By the way, I haven't discussed
- any of this with Steve; I'm just responding to what I've seen posted
- here on the net.
-
- Perhaps, Ofer, this conflict would not have escalated so if you hadn't
- posted the claim that you'd be running the trees (and then started at
- least one public turf war with someone who offered to run one of them)
- before hearing back from Steve that he was willing to send you the tapes
- in the first place. Given that you'd already posted that offer, I can
- see how it would be kind of difficult to just take "no" for an answer,
- and how you might want to continue to try to finagle the tapes out of
- Steve on your terms, perhaps attempting to convince him that your way
- of handling the trees was just fine and that he should thus get those
- tapes out to you in the next day's mail.
