- Hi all, I have just recently discovered folk music (don't ask me
- why it took so long, hey, I am only 22 :) and my first taste of it
- has been wonderful, thanks to Joni Mitchell's _Clouds_ CD (and to
- think the album is actually one year older than I am!)
-
- My favorite songs off _Clouds_ are: The Gallery, Both Sides, Now,
- I Don't Know Where I Stand, and yes, of course, Chelsea Morning :)
-
- Would someone please directly me to more wonderful and beautiful
- musics like these by Joni Mitchell, or to other musicians that I
- should know about? Please? Pretty Please?
-
- Welcome! All of Joni Mitchell's early albums are sort of "folky", up
- to around the time of Court and Spark, which is right on the edge, in
- my opinion. They include: Joni Mitchell, Clouds, Ladies of the Canyon,
- Blue, and For the Roses. I think I like Joni Mitchell and Ladies of
- the Canyon best, though Blue seems to be the most popular.
-
- Most female (and some male, David Wilcox comes to mind) folk
- singer-songwriters these days list Joni as a major influence, and it
- would be hard to narrow it down, but I'll suggest Cindy Kallet as
- a start. In southern California, you may need to mail order, and I
- can't get you the address without burning my lunch, so e-mail if you
- want it: martin@cis.umassd.edu.
