- It might not be a coincidence that this trend began *after* the death of
- Karajan. There was ongoing complaints about lousy sound -- compressed,
- constricted, generally unnatural -- during the late 70s and into the
- mid-80s in particular. Karajan was *very* influential at DGG and by
- extension throughout the Polygram Group.
