- Hi,
-
- I heard the first symphony for orchestra and two voices of Ustvolskaya
- (a pupil of Shostakovich) last friday in Utrecht (the Netherlands) by
- the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra under Valery Gergjev. It is a dark and
- sombre piece, whichá is somewhere between the slow movements of Shostakovich'
- middle aged works (if I can put it that way) and Gorecki. However, the work
- is from 1955. Yet, the information leaflet said it was the world premiere.
- Is that correct? Has this work really never been performed before, or is
- it perhaps the world premiere for the West? Any Ustvolskaya connaisseurs
- out there?
