- Hi all!
-
- I was just wondering if any of you out there have heard of a fantastic
- group of college musicians/vocalists called the Newman Singers and Ensemble
- from the Univ. of Iowa. They are sponsored by the Catholic Newman Center
- on campus at the university, and they are a great group of people. They
- travel, but not a whole lot (since they're mostly students) and mostly in
- the mid-western states. The director, Joe Mattingly, has written almost all
- of the music that they perform, along with orchestral scores for it. I think
- that they have seven or eight albums right now.
-
- I visited with the group at the beginning of December to participate in their
- Christmas concert. They had about 35-40 musicians in the orchestra and
- 50-60 vocalists. What an incredible sound this produced!!
-
- If you haven't heard this group, they are worth listening to. Just thought
- that you all might like to hear about a very positive educational/vocational/
- spiritual experience that's happening.
-
- Peace!
