- Carol Sloane is one of my favorite singers. Like most of my favorite
- singers, her work, especially her best, is hard to find in the U.S.A.
- Recently she has recorded for more widely distributed labels, so her
- most recent recordings are obtainable in the U.S. These are, on
- Contemporary Records "Love You Madly" and "The Real Thing." I *think*
- "I Could Have Told You So" is from "Love You Madly." Recently, Concord
- Jazz released "Heart's Desire."
-
- My favorite Sloane albums are harder to find. Her second album,
- recorded for Columbia in the early 60's is "Live at 30th Street,"
- which is available on CD in Japan. Another Japanese issue, recorded
- in 1985 and on CBS/Sony has been carried at several Tower stores and
- at times from Cadence magazine. It's all Gershwin and entitled "But
- Not for Me."
-
- A terrific album, recorded around 1982, has been around from time to
- time on both Eastwind and Four Star. It's called "As Time Goes By."
-
- An interesting interview with Carol can be found in Whitney Balliett's
- "American Singers."
-
- Feel free to email me at mdcolby@octavo.ucdavis.edu if you want to
- continue this discussion. There doesn't seem to be a great deal of
- interest in singers on r.m.b. :-)
