- I have just purchased and listened to the Yellow Dog
- CD release of the Christmas records. In addition, this
- release has an (almost) complete recording of "Christmas
- Time Is Here Again" clocking in at 5'43". I beleive that
- the version of this on the Yellow Dog "Acetates" release is
- slightly longer. Also, the new release has an outtake of
- the group rehearsing the 1964 Christmas record (using "Hello
- Dolly" as a theme).
-
- Initially, when I saw this CD in Japanese record stores,
- I didn't bother buying it because I had the Christmas stuff
- on other bootleg CD's. However, I finally broke down and
- spent the 2600 Yen (about $22.00) on it. I'm glad I did
- because this CD has all of the messages in "master tape"
- quality. There are no "popping" and "scratching" noises
- and all of the resonances are present on this CD. I
- believe that the Christmas recordings were originally made
- on 7.5 IPS 1/4 inch tape so the fidelity ain't that great, but
- it's refreshing and well worth it to have these recordings
- in the very best quality available.
-
- Also, in the inner label, a new Yellow Dog CD was advertised
- called "Monitor Mixes". Does anyone know what might be on this
- one? I haven't seen it yet here in Japan.
