- I'd strongly urge anyone planning a layout to get the _Track Planning
- for Realistic Operation_ book.
-
- As to this sort of book, I recently purchased _Easy-to-Build Electronic
- Projects for Model Railroaders_ by Peter Throne. I'd like to warn
- beginners to be wary of this book, because the information is
- rather incomplete. Many of the projects described included circuit
- diagrams, but no parts values ! The text includes references to
- "parts lists", but there are in fact no parts lists. Unless you're
- comfortable with scoping out a circuit diagram and guesstimating
- parts values, this book won't be much help to you.
-
- I suspect Kalmbach reprinted a bunch of Thorne magazine articles
- to prepare this book, but (accidentally?) omitted much of the
- artwork. Unfortunately, the artwork included the parts lists and
- values. Kalmbach is usually much more to be depended upon than this.
-
- I'm not criticizing the particular books recommended above.
