- Most probably because the console makers can sell their machines for
- very little profit, knowing that they will make plenty of money off
- of cartridge sales.

- Sound cards like the Sound Blaster (which sells for about the same
- price as an SNES or Genesis), get only one chance to make any profit
- in the initial sale, hence the higher prices.
