Thanks for the information - I'm sure these conferences will help to
unravel the incredibly complicated process that has been put in place
to distribute the money from the latest Surface Transportation act.
Of course, the first year's allocation is already being distributed,
so it is imperative that bicycle activists find out what's going on
in their area as soon as possible (last spring was not too early!)
If you missed the process  in the first year, you'd better find out
who's making the decisions in your area and start lobbying!

By the way, an "MPO" is a Metropolitan Planning Organization", which
is ISTEA-speak for the group that distributes the money in the area
around a population center (in the Seattle area, it is the Puget
Sound Regional Council).
