- Thanks for the information - I'm sure these conferences will help to
- unravel the incredibly complicated process that has been put in place
- to distribute the money from the latest Surface Transportation act.
- Of course, the first year's allocation is already being distributed,
- so it is imperative that bicycle activists find out what's going on
- in their area as soon as possible (last spring was not too early!)
- If you missed the process in the first year, you'd better find out
- who's making the decisions in your area and start lobbying!

- By the way, an "MPO" is a Metropolitan Planning Organization", which
- is ISTEA-speak for the group that distributes the money in the area
- around a population center (in the Seattle area, it is the Puget
- Sound Regional Council).
