  12. Hello net bike tourers,

  14. After looking at the different bicycling news groups I decided to post
  15. this request for information here.  I hope its the right place. :)
  16.  
  17. While in jr. high I had a dream about riding across the country.
  18. At the time I was riding about 1000 miles a year, which I thought was
  19. a lot. Since that time 25 years ago I have been in an out of cycling.
  20. The last couple of years have been, a "back in to cycling" period,
  21. and I've noticed the dream I had in jr. high has returned.  I'm
  22. riding maybe only 2000 miles a year now but I feel up for the adventure.
  23.  
  24. In my dream I see myself taking a short ride out to the Oregon Coast, 
  25. putting my left big toe in the Pacific Ocean, then riding for many, many
  26. days to poke my right big toe in the Atlantic Ocean.
  27.  
  28. I know that alot of people do this sort of thing with just a credit card,
  29. buying all their meals, and staying in hotels, but this is an old dream,
  30. I think before they had credit cards.  I imagine a leasurely tour two
  31. to three months, preparing my own food, and tent camping at night.

  37.  o  East coast destinations suitable for poking a big toe in the Atlantic.

  44.  o  your basic list of "what ever you do don't forget to bring this ..."
