- I recently replaced the factory pads on the front of my 85 Honda Prelude
- with "parts store" semi-metallic pads (no-name). After a few hundred
- miles, they make horrible noises when I step on the pedal -- squeals,
- crunches, grinding noises, etc. -- but the stopping distance seems about
- right. When I pulled the pads, they were coated with "dust"; removing it
- gave me silent brakes again -- for a few days! (Incidentally, the rotors
- felt fine). Also, my wheel covers are coated with this black dust.
-
- Am I doing any harm by leaving these pads in?
