  11. I recently replaced the factory pads on the front of my 85 Honda Prelude
  12. with "parts store" semi-metallic pads (no-name). After a few hundred
  13. miles, they make horrible noises when I step on the pedal -- squeals,
  14. crunches, grinding noises, etc. -- but the stopping distance seems about
  15. right. When I pulled the pads, they were coated with "dust"; removing it
  16. gave me silent brakes again -- for a few days! (Incidentally, the rotors
  17. felt fine). Also, my wheel covers are coated with this black dust.

  19. Am I doing any harm by leaving these pads in?
