- Santa was very good to me this year... he (she) left behind an Adcom GCD-600
- 5-Disc CD changer!
-
- Features
- -5 CD carousel changer with access to 4 discs while the 5th is playing
- -Random play.
- -Outputs include fixed output, variable output, and digital (coax) output.
- -All 3 outputs can be used at the same time.
- -Remote can control all front panel functions including drawer opening, and
- includes volume control.
- -Volume control has 50 discrete steps of ~1.5db each (steps numbered from -50
- to 0).
- -3" CD capability
- -user selectable polarity inversion
-
- So far, I absolutely love the thing... sounds GREAT. MUCH better than the
- bottom-of-the-line Sony I've had for the last 4 years or so.
-
- A couple of (minor) problems I have with it:
- -The drawer seems a bit flimsy. It sticks out quite far so as to be
- able to access 4 of the 5 discs. I'm afraid that if I accidentally
- bump it hard with the drawer open, I'll break it.
-
- -Since the CD player is at the bottom of my rack (about 10" from the
- floor), if I hit the drawer open button on the remote, the door opens
- and covers up the remote sensor and I can't close it again (without
- bending down and putting the remote close to the floor). Of course
- I should be opening it up for a reason, shouldn't I?
-
- After I listen to it for a while, I'll try to put some of my impressions down
- "on paper". But for now, I highly recommend it (and it's currently on sale at
- Tweeter for $550). I think the Adcom GDC-600 is the only choice for upper-end
- CD changers in this price range.
-
- Later...
- Steve
