- Gothic Romance, Revisited
-
-
- He appeared
- In the midst of the crowd.
- Garbed in black,
- And I in white lace.
-
- (it had always been a fantasy
- of mine
- to be carried off by a man in black
- I explained
- as we danced that New Year's)
-
- With an evil laugh
- He swept me up in powerful arms,
- And carried me down
- The dark corridor.
-
- (depositing me gently on
- the dining
- room floor, where we smiled
- foolishly
- at each other for a moment)
-
- Then he disappeared
- Without a word
- Down the dark corridor
- And was lost among the crowd.
