  13. I adore film that truly recreate the ambiance of a place, that
  14. lets us peak at the morality, the fealings, of an era.
  15. Many recreation are merely decors and costumes when its the
  16. little things, the attention do details, to characters that
  17. make us believe we are peaking into their lives.
  18. Historical pieces can be recreations, but they can also
  19. true expressions of the time they were made in; history 
  20. seem to run rampant through their veins.

  22. I would like examples from both forms : esquisite recreation of
  23. character and places and times & those time capsule films
  24. that express an era or a place or a way of living.

  29. A Passage To India ( Colonial India in the 20s)
  30. Cabaret ( decadent Berlin )

  32. The Killing Fieilds ( Cambodia during the Kmer Rouge's horrific rule )

  35. Could also be a film that for example expresses perfectly what one feels
  36. when living in a particular city,country, right now, New York, Paris, etc.

  41. Wings of Desire ( Wall and surrounding just before it came down )
  42. Alexanderplatz ( Massive documentary, Long but interesting )
  43. Open City  ( Italy after the war )
  44. Children of Paradise ( Paris after the war)
  45. etc...

  47. Can also look at current culture, events anywhere in the world.

  49. Any title documentary or films are welcomed, for the timepieces they 
  50. don't need to be the greatest entertainment on earth, but it is preferable
  51. that they be well made. With this, We could have a way of absorbing 
  52. with little or no pain, maybe this is what the MTV generation needs,
  53. culture, history, etc. Society must adapt to the new age, teachers
  54. must use every means they possess, and great movies can profoundly
  55. affect people, make them remember and understand, don't we know it,
  56. we read this group with fervor for a reason... :-).
