-
- Note that "City of Hope" and "Grand Canyon" came out within a few months
- of each other. There is little possibility that "Grand Canyon" was seriously
- influenced by "City of Hope". "Grand Canyon" finished shooting before
- "City of Hope" finished post-production. One can speculate that the evil
- Kasdan, snooping around Sayles' open kitchen window one night, heard Sayles
- talking about how he was planning to make a film about the problems of
- living in a major American city, if one wishes to, but the evidence is
- scanty, at best.
-
- While we're at it, would anyone care to come up with an example of a
- Kasdan film that was seriously influenced by a Sayles film other than
- "The Big Chill"? Which Sayles film was the influence on "Body Heat"?
- Which Sayles film influenced "Silverado"? One example is not very
- compelling. If you don't like Kasdan's movies, I suggest you look
- for other reasons.
