- Listen, it's your opinion and I can only respect it. But let me add the remark
- that David Lynch is as cerebral a director can be than Tim Burton. One of
- Lynch's last film, Wild at Heart, is full of allusions and "reprises" taken from
- movies as ecclectic as Wizard of Oz (yeah, that one!!) and typical B series
- films of the 1950 (that's why Nicolas Cage wears a snake skin jacket...). In
- the classes that I follow in film studies, we dissected Wild at Heart and, by
- looking at video excerpts of the feature, we arrived to the conclusion that
- these allusions were wanted by Lynch. In fact they stand for the film on the
- whole.
-
- If theses facts are verified (I've never heart that Lynch told about these
- references), then Lynch is as much a cerebral director than Burton. As Burton,
- he packs his films with allusions (this time cinephilic ones) to covert
- complex meanings to his plots.
-
- Personnaly, I like Burton films more than Lynch's. But we must admit that both
- directors share exceptional qualities, one of which is that their movies are
- complex and imaginative.
