- Alas, I wish that were always true. But it's true often enough.
- I took a class called "Media Ethics" this last semester, taught by the
- Philosophy Dept. The professor is a Marxist, and attempted to per-
- suade the class that the First Amendment includes the right of the
- government to regulate the contents of news broadcasts, control what
- sort of advertising can be refused, and what sort must be refused,
- etc. -- the entire liberal agenda, in brief.
-
- Much to my surprise, my attempts to pin him to the wall with the
- historical absurdity of his claims received considerable support
- from other students, including the first occasion when I have
- received applause while haranguing the teacher. Fortunately, there
- were enough self-described conservatives in the class who cherish
- free speech -- unlike liberals.
