- 1. I don't believe its the upturn which causes the downturn. Its the way
- we push, combined with whatever native state the economy has, that causes
- both.

- 2. On reflection, what you said - don't swap food in the belly for pie in
- the sky - is ordinary common sense. It is however used extensively by
- everyone from politicians to analysts to justify taking the easy
- route/making a quick buck/etc. I guess that's what I object to.

- 3. Economies seem clearly to have catastrophic aspects. The same trigger
- has very different effects when pulled at different times / in different
- circumstances.
