- Books aren't one-offs, but by writing in them we sometimes _create_ unique
- objects of value. One of the most interesting-looking volumes I ever saw
- was Joanna Russ's personal copy of Ursula K. Le Guin's THE DISPOSSESSED.
- Notes on every scrap of blank space. I'd love to have the chance to read
- those notes sometime.

- George's comments are spot on, though. And working writers and editors,
- like librarians, frequently run out of patience with The Sanctity Of The
- Printed Word. Print is a tool, not an end.
