  20. pain has to be the number one question. right before "why?"

  22. someone sat and stuck me with needles for many hours.  OF COURSE IT HURT!

  24. but not that much.  really.  i think you'll find most people describe it as
  25. a mild stinging sensation, and that it diminishes after a few minutes.
  26. after a couple of hours it starts to come back.  i once had two hours of
  27. single needle work and at the end it was getting unbearable again.  your
  28. first tattoo is also prone to more pain, most likely since you do not have a
  29. good idea for what is about to happen.

  31. needles come in different arrangements.  a "single needle" as referred to
  32. above, is a single needle, and is most used for the initial outline or
  33. detail work.  groupings are either circular (3, 5, 7 &c.)  or a straight
  34. line.  some claim that the larger groupings hurt less.

  36. i find that most of the pain depends on you and the part being tattooed.
  37. some people just hurt more.  sigh.  also places like ribs apparently hurt
  38. more, whilst fleshy bits don't experience that much pain.  my calf muscle
  39. did not feel a thing when being done.  however, my shin bone, surprisingly
  40. felt nothing either.  (and anyone who owns a coffee table knows that the
  41. shin is a loverly place to hit :)  :)

  43. the single most painful place for me?  achilles tendon.

  46. not minding..."
