- I've been lurking in the background lately, with nothing really to
- add to the conversations here. I'm just posting this so that people
- know that I'm still alive and reading each and every post (except
- anything to do with con flamewars).
- Hope everyone had a nice holiday. I was hoping to track down a
- copy of AnimEigo's KOR movie before Christmas, but none of the stores
- around here ever got it (amazing, because they got the other four
- right on time). I'm debating whether I should send an order directly
- to AnimEigo now, or wait and get the LD. Perhaps fate is preventing
- me from finding a copy of the tape, so that I won't buy it instead of
- waiting for the LD.
- I work at a Suncoast Motion Picture Co. store, which stocks some
- anime. However, we have received nothing new in months, even though
- our catalog clearly states that we can now order such titles as Grave
- of the Fireflies and Area 88 (both USMC). The assistant manager told
- me, regarding anime, that "the novelty has worn off" and that the
- videos are no longer selling. I really hope the popularily of anime
- in the U.S. doesn't turn out to be a quick fad, but with the constant
- stream of B-grade releases coming out from USMC, Streamline, and
- others, I fear anime may return to a 'fan-only' thing sooner than most
- of us would like.
- Image has a Gall Force LD slated for next month.
- I recently saw Scramble Wars, the video "for Artmic freaks". :^)
- The OAV has superdeformed versions of Artmic characters getting
- together for a big race. The main players are from Bubblegum Crisis,
- Gall Force, and Genesis Surviver Gaiarth, although *many* others pop
- up in cameos, like: Madox-01, Bean Bandit & Rally Vincent, the
- Garland motorcycle, even the Mospeada cyclone rider. Anyone who has
- seen way too many Artmic productions should get a good laugh out of
- this one.
- I watched some of Urotsukidoji, and was not disgusted. That's
- probably because I knew much about what to expect before viewing it.
- Would anyone mind E-mailing me a quick plot synopsis for parts 1-3?
- I'd appreciate it.
- Lots of new manga came out last week, such as Dark Horse's Orion #2
- and Viz's Silent Mobius 3.5. I do hope Viz decides to continue with
- SM. (Anyone know how many volumes there are?) I'd also like to see
- Volumes 1 and 2 reprinted in original black & white format, such as
- what they're doing with the Crying Freeman compilations.
- All for now,
-
